Recalled Walmart dressers that federal regulators pulled from the market in the spring were sold to shoppers anyway, through liquidation and closeout sellers, after the recall had already taken effect. Consumer Product Safety Commission reissued the warning this week specifically to reach the families who bought them. Regulators disclosed this week that Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers continued to move into homes after that announcement, sold by four named companies in four different states. Clothing storage units that tip over kill and injure young children, typically toddlers who pull open drawers and climb. The commission reported no injuries or incidents connected to these dressers when it announced the original recall.
