Shein has undergone a significant setback in its legalities in the United Kingdom . The well-known company, which lost a dispute regarding copyright infringement against Temu , another fellow online retail giant, finds this ruling as another complication that they aren’t keen to deal with, as they are already facing intense competition,regulatory pressure, and a bumpy ride on growth. On August 13 this year, London’s High Court ruled that Temu was not liable for any copyright breaches over the photographs of products that Shein claimed had been used by sellers on its platform. At the center of the case, one could see that it was really not on whether the two companies sell similar-looking clothing, but it was rather on the use of commercial images, which is used to create an attractive market for products that are sold by Shein. The court also upheld part of Temu’s counterclaim against Shein, which potentially left the fashion retailer having to face damages.
